Networked Electronic Resources
Sixteen of the ERC's computer workstations are connected to
the library's network and provide access to NUcat and the library's
collection of over 200 electronic research databases. General
access to the Internet is also available from the ERC workstations. Stand-Alone CD-ROM Databases:
In addition to the networked computer workstations, the ERC
has two stand-alone workstations which provide access to over
175 CD-ROM database titles. The Reference Department's CD-ROM
collection covers a wide range of subject areas, including art
and architecture, business and finance, history, literature,
religion and philosophy, the social sciences, statistics, foreign
language bibliographies, and general reference. Ask for the
individual CD-ROM titles at the main Reference Desk.
The Scholar's Workstation Concept
What do you do with your information once you have found it?
To allow for greater flexibility in collecting, storing, and
manipulating information, Microsoft Word and EndNote have both
been installed on all of the networked computer workstations.
The concept behind the "Scholar's Workstation" is
to allow users to begin organizing and interpreting information
during the collection process.
Electronic Resources Workshops
Each quarter, the Reference Department offers a series of instructional
workshops designed to introduce students, faculty, and university
staff to the wide array of electronic resources available through
the library. For workshop descriptions, and to register online,
see the "Workshops"
page. |
