Click on the Output Options button, then click on Full Entry format, request either All Entries or Tagged Entries, and then click on the SUBMIT button. Your search results will be displayed on the screen. From the File menu of your browser, choose Save as... and use the "Plain text" option.


ABSEES Online

From the ABSEES search page, set the Display Format to "Long." Once you have obtained your search results, choose Save as... from the File menu of your browser and use the "Plain text" option.


JSTOR

Use the "Save citation" feature in JSTOR to collect articles, then click on "View saved citations". Use pull down menus to export citations "as a text file" (Windows XP users should use "in a new window") in "citation manager" format. Save the new window as a text file.

On a page of the Search Results, click on the check box next to each record you want to download. When finished, click on the "E-mail" icon, either at the top or the bottom of the screen. At the "E-mail Records" screen, select the following options:

Marked Records
Detailed records
Send as plain text - line length 72

Fill in your email address and a subject and/or notes if you wish. Then click "Send."

Once you have received the email, you may either save the message as a text file, or you may cut and paste the message into a text editor, such as the Windows Notepad. Be certain to save the file with a .txt extension.

Note: This filter will import URLs for the full text of articles when applicable. However, those URLs will be valid only for one week from the date the search was performed. You may wish to explore other alternatives for saving electronic articles.


ProQuest

Dissertation Abstracts (ProQuest Digital Dissertations)

Mark the records you wish to save and then click on "Marked List" near the top of the screen. At the list of marked records, select "Print List." Set the Output Format to "Text (Citation + Abstract)" and choose the sort order if you wish (not required). Leave the other boxes blank.

Click on the "Print List" button to display the selected citations and abstracts. Once they have displayed, choose "Save As..." from your browser's File menu. Name the file as you wish, and make certain "Plain text" is selected as the file type.

Click the floppy disc icon to save your selected records. Select which records to save: all, marked or those currently displaying. Under "Which fields?" choose All fields, and under "Include..." check the following:

Record number and database name
Field labels: Short labels

Click the "Save Records" button. A regular Save dialog box will appear.
Rename the file and make certain to include the file name extension .txt
