How to disable Java in Internet Explorer 5 (Macintosh)

The Answers Online system requires that Java be disabled in Internet Explorer for the Macintosh. If you have Java enabled when you connect to Answers Online, your session hang and you will not be able to see messages or pushed web pages.

To disable Java, go to the Explorer menu and select Preferences.

Click on Java in the menu on the left side of the Preferences window. Remove the check from the box labelled Enable Java.

Click OK to save this change.

You may now connect to Answers Online.

When you are done chatting with a librarian, you will want to reenable Java by rechecking the Enable Java box.
