The National Transportation Safety Board has recommend that the United States enact a nationwide ban on text on Dec. 13, 2011.

College Students Text While Driving

According to a recent study in Accident Analysis and Prevention, 91% of college students have texted while driving and most of those students have texted while driving passengers.
