Recalls and Requests

Recall requests on books that are currently checked out and requests to pull and send available materials for pickup or delivery* may be made directly through NUcat.

To place your request in NUcat from the item record, click on the “Request” button, located in the dark blue toolbar near the top of the page, and follow the instructions. You will be asked to log into your account if you have not already done so. Reserve items and items from short term loan collections must be requested in person.

Requests made directly through NUcat are processed instantly by the system. If you are blocked from submitting a request through NUcat, you will be given the option of filling out a form which sends an email to Main Circulation staff, who will review your request within working hours.

You must use the rush catalog request form to request items that have not been fully cataloged (listed as "In Process" or "Received on [date]"). 

*Evanston faculty may request delivery to their campus office by requesting the item in NUcat and selecting "Delivery-Evanston Faculty" as the pickup option, and supplying the campus address in the comments field. See the book or multimedia delivery policy page for more information.

Use your Interlibrary Loan account to request scans of most articles or book chapters held in print in Evanston-campus libraries.

Need something that is not available in NUcat? Place an Interlibrary Loan request or search and request through UBorrow, the search and request borrowing system of the CIC (Big 10 Plus the University of Chicago and the Center for Research Libraries).
