Materials held by Northwestern University Libraries may be requested online in either NUsearch or NUcat.
If you require only specific chapters or articles from materials held by the Library, learn more about scanning and delivering copies of the sections needed.
For certain situations, Reproduction Services provides information on the complete reproduction of Library items. Library materials required for courses may be made available on Blackboard or set aside for class use through Course Reserves, at the request of the instructor only.
Search for and request an item from CIC libraries and the Center for Research Libraries with a guaranteed 12-week loan.
Search for and request an item from another library if NUL does not own it or it is currently checked out.
For items held by the Transportation Library at Northwestern and collections elsewhere, we provide additional services for obtaining documents; fees may apply.
Items that are owned by the Library but not yet cataloged are listed in NUcat as "In Process" or "Received," and may be rush cataloged and put on hold for you.
Request that we buy a book we do not currently own.
NU patrons can obtain materials in person from the University of Chicago, University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), and Loyola University of Chicago libraries.
