ILL Requests through WorldCat and ArticleFirst
Your ILL account is accessible through WorldCat, ArticleFirst and other library Electronic Resources. When you find something you would like, the option to get it through Interlibrary Loan will appear. When you choose that option, you will be prompted to logon to your ILL account.
Two places to search for items to request via ILL are WorldCat (for books, dissertations, etc.) and ArticleFirst (for articles).
Instructions for using WorldCat and ArticleFirst
WorldCat
- Click the WorldCat link.
- Enter keyword, author or title in the appropriate field and click the Search button.
- Click the title, highlighted in blue, that you would like to request. Note: If Northwestern Univ is highlighted in green it means that this item is owned by an NU Library. Search NUcat for location and call number information.
- Click on Send Request to NU ILL to send in an interlibrary loan request for the item.
- You will be asked to login to your NU ILL account. Once you are logged in, the item information will be populated in the request form.
ArticleFirst
- First, click the ArticleFirst link.
- Enter keyword, author or title of the article in the appropriate field and click the Search button.
- Click the title, highlighted in blue, that you would like to request. If Northwestern Univ is highlighted in blue or green it means that this item is owned by an NU Library. Check for full-text availiblity of the article by opening the record and clicking on the purple Find it @ NU button.
- If full-text is not available, click on Send Request to NU ILL.
- You will be asked to login to your NU ILL account. Once you are logged in, the article information will be populated in the request form.
