Designed by Michael Ötschmann. Erected 1722-25 under Magnus Pachinger (abbot, 1709-1742). Decoration of interior (stucco, ceiling fresco) by Johann Baptist Zimmermann. The library contained about 20,000 books at the time of the monastery's secularization in 1803.

Baron Aretin and his Kommission visited the library in spring 1803 and selected 7231 manuscripts, incunables, works of music, and other printed works for transport to the Court Library, the university in Landshut, and other state libraries. (Among the manuscripts Aretin discovered was the Carmina burana.) The remaining 12,000 books remained in the library building until they were sold in 1839-40.
