FAX, mail or e-mail.
Northwestern Faculty, Staff and Students:
Transportation Library staff are able to offer a
full range of reference services to Northwestern faculty, staff
and students affiliated with the Transportation Center or the Center
for Public Safety. This includes: bibliographic instruction, information
literacy instruction, research guidance, ready reference and the identification
of appropriate referral resources. Northwestern faculty, staff and students are encouraged to make
an appointment with the Reference
Librarian to discuss their research needs, in the areas of transportation,
law enforcement management or environmental impact assessment.
Non-Northwestern Patrons:
Transportation Library staff are able to offer non-Northwestern
patrons approximately twenty minutes of free, ready reference services,
including a search of reference materials, our online public access
catalog and other bibliographic resources. This search may result
in the identification of relevant materials held by Northwestern
University, a short bibliography, or a referral to a more appropriate
resource.
Reference questions from members of the Northwestern
University community must take precedence over reference requests
from non-Northwestern University patrons, which may cause a delay
in response time. Priorities within the Library or staff shortages
may make it necessary to decline a request for reference services
from non-Northwestern patrons.
Bibliographic Instruction/Information Literacy:
Class instructors or individual researchers may want
to contact the Reference
Librarian to make an appointment for instruction on how to use
the Transportation Library or how to identify major sources of information
relative to transportation, law enforcement management or environmental
impact assessment.
