How
Hybrid Vehicles Will Move You (SLA Denver WOW Programming)
Hybrid vehicles are quickly becoming part of the everyday
world as they are used in passenger cars, buses, trucks,
locomotives, ports, military applications and more. How
the technology works, how it relates to fuel cells, what
fuels hybrids can use, how hybrids are produced and what
materials go into their production will influence the
mobility of people, goods, and industrial production
for the foreseeable future. Join us in getting a better
understanding of the latest developments in technology,
and how the information community can assist with hybrid
vehicle deployment. The National Energy Research Laboratory,
the Denver Rapid Transit District, and CalSTART/WestStart

National Technical
Service in Transition: Drawers of Microfiche to Digital
Files
Many of our libraries have substantial
collections of NTIS reports on microfiche that contain
rare and interesting
government research, development, and engineering studies.
They've have been collected via NTIS' automatic document
delivery service, known as Selected Research in Microfiche
(SRIM), for years - but what are the newest options for
access? Ellen Herbst, Director at NTIS, will discuss
changes in digital access, how you can create custom
SRIM subscriptions using keywords, how color and graphic
documents are being made available, and how NTIS might
work with library networks to keep collections robust.
Transportation Library Director, Rita Evans will join
the discussion with innovations for preserving and managing
technical report availability.

Visit
the NEW EPA Region 8 Technical Library
You are cordially invited to visit
the NEW EPA Region 8 Technical Library
in Denver, CO!
1595 Wynkoop Street, on the corner of the
16th Street Mall and Wynkoop.
SIGN UP now by calling 303/312 - 7226,
or email library-reg8@epa.gov
The EPA Region 8 Technical Library has moved into a beautiful
new "green"
building in lower Downtown Denver. We have the first "green roof" (i.e.,
covered with living plants) in the downtown area.
And the new Region 8 library has only half as much floor
space as we had in the old building. And yet, we managed
to retain 100% of our physical
collection, and even have some room for collection growth.
How did we manage this? Come and visit our Open House
and find out! You will also be able to:
See a demo of the Desktop Library intranet site
Browse our "Sustainability" and "Rocky Mountain Wetlands" special
collections.
Library staff from the National Environmental Investigations
Center (located in the Denver metro area) will also be
present. Learn more about the
services and collections provided by these 2 EPA libraries.
Snacks will be served. We look forward to seeing you!
