Extended Hours for Deering Library

Northwestern University Libraries will be extending the operating hours for Deering Library beginning with spring quarter, in order to help offset the loss in study space resulting from the temporary closure of Mudd Library.

Beginning March 28, both University and Deering libraries will be open the following hours:
Monday through Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 a.m.
Friday and Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – midnight.
Sunday: 10 a.m. – 3:00 a.m.

This means the Northwestern community and library affiliates will have longer access through the Deering entrance, as well as access to study space in the Eloise Martin Reading Room and the Architecture Reading Room on the third floor, and the Music Reading Room on the second floor. (The Government Information Reading Room in Deering, already operating under the same hours as University Library, will continue to be available at all times the libraries are open.)

“We heard loudly and clearly our students’ concerns about adequate study space when we announced the renovation of Mudd Library,” said Dean of Libraries Sarah Pritchard. “Mudd is a fixture of north campus academic life, so we hope this change in Deering’s hours provides more options for students looking for a replacement space.”

Mudd Library will remain closed through September 2017.

Hours of admission for the general public will remain Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
