Temporary Restricted Access to Deering Library Stacks
Due to concerns about air quality in the stacks of Deering Library, Northwestern Libraries are conducting a series of tests to better understand the situation and ensure conditions are safe for library users and staff. For this reason, access to many of the collections housed in Deering Library is restricted until further notice. This closure includes public access to the open stacks tiers where Music Library collections are housed, and limiting library staff access to the remaining closed stacks that include materials of the Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections.
Patrons may page materials from the Music Library by requesting items from NUsearch; these paged items will be available for pickup at the Circulation Desk in University Library. Items from Special Collections may be requested and viewed as usual in the Special Collections reading room.
This restriction does not affect access to Deering Library's reading rooms or to materials housed in the Art reading rooms, Music reading room, and University Archives. University Library and Mudd library are not affected and remain open.
If you have questions about the status of the restricted collections, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
