Oak Grove Library Center
Completed in Fall 2011, the new Oak Grove Library Center is a state-of-the-art climate and temperature controlled high density shelving facility that ultimately will house 1.9 million items in 12,000 square feet of space. Collections at Oak Grove will include low use general materials, many with online equivalents, from Northwestern University Library, Galter Health Sciences Library and the Pritzker Legal Research Center. Oak Grove provides a safe, secure environment for these materials.
The relocation of general collection materials to the Oak Grove Library Center will enable the NU libraries to relieve overcrowding in on-campus facilities, allowing them to continue to house unique items and important collections regularly browsed by researchers and students. It will also enable some reconfiguration of service spaces for students and faculty. Oak Grove has a staff of four members who are engaged in scanning and circulation services with a 24-hour delivery for the campus community.
