Thursday May 5

 

Meeting Place: University Library Forum Room

 

1:00-2:00 pm         Book Donations Committee

2:00-3:00 pm         Title VI/Cooperative Projects

3:15-4:15 pm         Northwestern Welcome and Introduction to Africana Digital Projects at NU

4:15-5:00 pm         Dan Britz Memorial Book Launching, in the Herskovits Library, 5th floor

5:30-7:00 pm         Reception at the Program of African Studies, 620 Library Place. (Welcoming remarks of Richard Joseph, John Evans Professor of Political Science and Director of the Program of African Studies.)

 

 

Friday May 6

 

Meeting Place: Norris University Center, Michigan Room/Room 203 (Norris University Center opens at 7:30 am)

 

8:00-9:00 am          African Book Publishing Record (ABPR)

9:00-9:30 am          Morning Break/Continental Breakfast in the Michigan Room

9:30-9:45 am          First ALC Executive Board Meeting

9:45-10:45 am        Cataloging Committee

10:45-12:00 pm     ALC Bibliography Committee

12:15-1:30 pm       Lunch provided by the University Library and the Program of African Studies in the Northwestern Room/Room 202

1:45-3:45 pm         ALC Business Meeting (Welcoming remarks of David Bishop, Charles Deering McCormick University Librarian.)

3:45-5:00 pm         Second ALC Executive Board Meeting

6:00 pm                  Open house and dinner party at the home of Hans and Gianna Panofsky, 1229 Judson Ave.

6 pm                Drinks

6.30 pm           Dinner, guests may scatter through the house. Two African movies will be running upstairs, "Mandabi" by O. Sembene in the study and "Yeelen" by S. Cisse in the blue room

7.30 pm           Brief remarks by David Easterbrook and Richard Joseph followed by performance by Uwa Hunwick (downstairs)

8.30 pm           Dessert, coffee and conversation.

 

 

Saturday May 7
