Richard Benjamin was born in New York City on May 22, 1938, and
graduated from Northwestern in 1960 before making his debut on Broadway
in 1966 in Star-Spangled Girl. He has had roles in very many movies,
television series and Broadway plays, and has also been a director
of films and plays. Benjamin's film roles include Good-Bye Columbus,
Catch-22, Portnoy's Complaint, The Sunshine Boys, and Love at First
Bite. He has also appeared in the television series "Quark", and
in Arthur Miller's play Fame. In the director's chair, he has been
responsible for the London production of Barefoot in the Park, and
for the films My Favorite Year, The Money Pit, and Milk Money, among
others. Benjamin is married to actress Paula Prentiss, whom he met
at Northwestern.
