Geyer graduated from Northwestern's Medill School
of Journalism in 1956. After accepting a Fulbright Scholarship to
study modern history in Vienna, Austria, she worked as a reporter
for Chicagos Southtown Economist, before joining the Chicago
Daily News, from 1959-1975. She was correspondent in Latin America
and foreign correspondent for the Chicago newspaper before going
on to the Los Angeles Times as a syndicated columnist on international,
domestic and women's affairs. Her column appears in 120 newspapers
in the United States and Latin America. Her interview list includes
Fidel Castro, Juan Peron, Ayatollah Khomeini, Saddam Hussein, Yassar
Arafat, Ronald Reagan and George Bush. Northwestern University honored
Geyer with its Alumnae Merit Award in 1968, the Alumnae Award in
1981 and Medill's Hall of Achievement Award in 1996. In addition
to her reporting for newspapers and journals, Geyer has written
numerous books pertaining to international affairs and politics.
