Irv Kupcinet

A well-known figure in Chicago journalism, Irv Kupcinet was born on July 31, 1912, and entered Northwestern's College of Liberal Arts (WCAS) in 1930. While at Northwestern he was a member of the freshman football team. Kupcinet's first position with a newspaper was as columnist for the Chicago Daily Times (1935-1943). His "Kup's Column" has been featured in the Chicago Sun-Times since 1943. Kupcinet has also worked in radio, broadcasting Chicago Bears football games, and in television, where he hosted "Kup's Show" and worked as a commentator for WBBM-TV. He is the recipient of the Peabody and Emmy Awards.
