Born August 23, 1949 to two school teachers in Fort
Wayne, Indiana, Shelley Long has achieved a great deal as a stage,
television and film actress, and as a producer and writer. While
in the Chicago area, she performed in several area theaters as well
as in the WAA-MU show at Northwestern. Long was a co-writer and
producer for the television show "Sorting It Out," for which she
won three Emmys. She also earned an Emmy Award for Best Actress
for her role on "Cheers." Long's movies include Irreconcilable Differences,
The Money Pit, and Outrageous Fortunes, among others. She now owns
her own production company.
