Born on June 4, 1862, Catherine Waugh graduated from Northwestern’s Law School in 1886. She was twice elected as Justice of the Peace in Evanston. In 1891, she helped to pass a suffrage bill in Illinois, which allowed women the vote in School Board elections. In addition to her private law practice and her efforts on behalf of enfranchising women, she wrote many law treatises before her death in 1945.
