Born in Portland, Oregon, on May
26, 1939, Musburger attended Northwesterns Medill School of
Journalism. He began his sports career as a professional umpire
for the Midwest Baseball League in 1959 and went on to the Chicago
American where he was a sports writer and columnist until 1968.
That year he was named sports director for WBBM Radio in Chicago.
Eventually Musburger became the director of sports for WBBM Television,
Channel 2. In 1975, he joined CBS Sports as host of "NFL Today." He is now with ABC-TV Sports.
