Born in the small town of Packard,
Kentucky, on January 20, 1926, Patricia Neal always wanted to become
an actress. After taking acting lessons from the age of twelve,
she attended Northwestern Universitys School of Speech from
1943-1945 before moving to New York City. There she met Lillian
Hellman who signed her to act in Eugene ONeills first
Broadway show, "Another Part of the Forest," in 1946.
After winning several awards for this role, Neal performed in other
Broadway productions including "The Miracle Worker." Her
first movie part was in "The Fountainhead" in 1948 and
she subsequently acted in twenty-four movies including "Hud,"
in 1963 for which she won the Academy Award. She was nominated for
an Oscar again in 1968 for "The Subject Was Roses." Among
her recent movies was "An Unremarkable Life," in 1989.
