Laura Washington earned her bachelor's and master's
degrees from Northwesterns Medill School of Journalism in
1978 and 1980. Since then she has been a reporter, assistant editor,
and now editor and publisher of The Chicago Reporter, an investigative
monthly that explores racial and urban affairs in Chicago. In 1985,
she was press secretary for Mayor Harold Washington. She has been
a producer for a WBBM-TV investigative unit, author of a monthly
column for the Chicago Tribune and a frequent analyst for the "Chicago
Tonight" show on WTTW-TV.
