Holdings of the University Archives include:

• 26,000 cubic feet of University records of enduring value.
• A complete run of the University's newspaper, the Daily Northwestern.
• A complete run of the student yearbook, the Syllabus.
• A complete set of student and staff directories.
• A complete set of catalogs and bulletins from each of the University's colleges and schools.
• Runs of 1,300 University-generated serial publications, from student newsletters to departmental annual reports.
• The Faculty Authors Collection: books by Northwestern faculty; most are second copies of titles held in the Library.
• A collection of 600,000 photographs documenting nearly all facets of campus life.
• Faculty Biographical Files: over 10,000 files on past and present faculty and others associated with Northwestern.
• Subject reference files on the history of the University.
• Records of student organizations and papers of distinguished faculty. (See "finding aids")
