World
News Connection is a fee-based service of the National Technical Information
Service (NTIS), that provides translations by FBIS and JPRS of non-English
newspapers, speeches, journals, and some media broadcasts from foreign countries.
Translations are added within 24–72 hours of original broadcast/publication,
and the database goes back to 1995. Some non-U.S. English-language news sources
are also included.
World
News Connection can be accessed anywhere on Northwestern University’s campus
but is limited to one user at a time.
There
are three ways to search World News connection

Region/ Topic Searching
Simple Searching is an easy way to perform a comprehensive search by using keywords. An entire article or just a headline can be searched and limited by publication date.
Region/Topic
Searching is a quick point and click way to search for articles on a combination
of topics and predefined regions of the world, by simply checking the selection
box of the particular topics and regions listed.
Searches
can be limited to two date options; WNC Insert Date or Publication Date.
WNC
Insert Date is the date the article was added to World News connection.
Publication
Date is the date of the actual publication or broadcast.
