The Organization of American States and Pan American Union collection:

Pan American Union Building Since the late 19th Century, Gov Info has collected the documents and publications of the Organization of American States (OAS) and its predecessor organizations. In 1962 the Department became a depository library of the OAS. The Department welcomes members of the Northwestern community and the public. About the Organization of American States

The web site of the Organization of American States is http://www.oas.org.

The Organization of American States is the oldest regional intergovernmental organization. The International Union of American Republics was established at the First International Conference of American States, held in Washington D.C. from 1889-1890. In 1910 the International Union became the Pan American Union. In 1948, twenty-one countries signed the Charter of the Organization of American States, and the Pan American Union became the Organization of American States (OAS).
