Stacks Closed Beginning July 24

As announced previously, the Music Library this summer is undertaking a substantial moving project in order to create added space for our continually growing collection. For this project, all circulating books (MLs and MTs) will be moved to an area on the first level of Deering Library that will be accessible from the corridor between the Main Library and Deering. After the books are moved, the entire score collection will be shifted to take full advantage of the space created by relocating the books. Although all scores will remain on level two of Deering, they will be distributed more evenly, and the overcrowding that currently exists will be reduced.

While already we are involved with the many details relating to this complex project, the actual move of materials will begin Monday, July 24, and will continue at least through Friday, August 4. During this period, the Music Library's stacks area will be closed to the public so that the project can be carried out efficiently and safely. Since summer classes will still be in session during the first week of the move, please note that there will be no access to circulating books and scores during the last week of classes. The Music Library asks that patrons plan ahead and check out needed library materials before July 24.

This change relates solely to the Music Library's stacks area during the final week of classes; the Listening Center, Computer Lab, and Music Library reference room and circulation desk will maintain usual hours through the end of the summer session.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding, and we look forward to offering an improved situation with our facilities by the beginning of the fall quarter. Please direct questions and concerns to D.J. Hoek.
