Digital Collections

In collaboration with other departments at Northwestern University, these collections have been digitized, making them available to a much broader audience. The originals of the digitized images are held in the McCormick library. Several other digitization projects of our collections are forthcoming.

The Siege and Commune of Paris

Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-MartinThis site contains over 1200 digitized photographs and caricatures recording the Siege and Commune of Paris, 1870-1871. In addition to the images found here, the McCormick Library's Siege and Commune collection contains thousands of caricatures, 68 newspapers in hard-copy and film, hundreds of books and pamphlets and approximately 1000 posters.

William Hogarth and 18th-Century Print Culture

William Hogarth Self-PortraitThis is an online version of an exhibit held in 1997 at the Mary & Leigh Block Museum commemorating the 300th anniversary of William Hogarth (1697-1764) using prints and other materials from the McCormick Library.
