Manuscripts and Archives

The following is an alphabetical list of manuscript archives in the McCormick Library. Also see collections for a list of our principle non-manuscript collections. At the present time only the underlined collections have descriptions and/or content lists available online. Contact our staff for information regarding any of the other collections of interest to you. An alphabetical database of some of the writers with materials held within these collections is also available.

To read or print our collection descriptions and registers you will need to:

  1. Acquire and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader. (if you haven't already).
  2. Configure your web browser to use the Acrobat Reader
  3. Download any of the files shown below which are all in PDF format

In addition, the McCormick Library of Special Collections is contributing finding aids to the Northwestern University Library "Archival Collections" portal. This database provides access to collections of primary-source materials held by various departments within Northwestern University's libraries, through finding aids made searchable through EAD (Encoded Archival Description).
