II. Borrowing/Obtaining Materials:
See your hand-out re: Inter Library Loan
A. Cards issued through the Library Privileges Office (on-site) - books borrowed at no cost (on and off-site).
B. If you copy articles yourselves - 5 cents per page (on-site).
C. If you Inter Library Loan articles through your local library they may or may not pass the cost on to you; otherwise, a minimum of $15. per article (off-site).
III. Goals of the Class are to:
A. Familiarize the SPSC students with the principal print and electronic resources they will be using to support their research, how to find, search, use and evaluate them - Information Literacy.
B. Familiarize the SPSC student with the process of formulating a search strategy.
C. Familiarize the SPSC students with the process of borrowing/obtaining books, copies of articles and other materials.
D. Familiarize the SPSC students with their local library resources (off-site)
IV. Information Literacy:
A. What kinds of information are available?
Books, articles, documents, etc.
B. Where to find it?
Catalogs, periodical indexes, etc
C. How to find it?
Search strategies and protocols
D. How to use it?
Literature search, etc.
E. How to evaluate it?

We will have two 10 minute breaks around 2:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m.
Class should end at 4:30 p.m (4 p.m. for off-site).
At 4:30 p.m., for those who are interested, there will be a tour of the Main Library and the Transportation Library that will take about 20 minutes (on-site).
