Deering cleaning project completed - Stacks open to public

As of September 25, the Music Library stacks, as well as the elevator in Deering Library, have reopened for patrons. The Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections will resume regular hours on Monday, October 14.

These closures, which began in fall 2018, were necessary to address air quality concerns in specific areas of Deering Library. At that time, testing indicated the presence of microbial growth on certain physical volumes sensitive to abnormal temperature and humidity conditions.

Thanks to the dedicated work of the library staff, external specialized service providers, and the support of the Northwestern administration, the cleaning project was completed ahead of schedule. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community throughout this extended closure.

Questions about the project, access to collections, or any other matters may be directed to library@northwestern.edu.
