On August 29, 2008 Northwestern University Library will discontinue use of the Answers Online software for answering reference queries.

We invite users of this service to try our instant messaging Wildcat Reference service.


The Wildcat Reference instant messaging service provides almost all the functionality of the current software. No downloads or
familiarity with instant messaging software is required. The Wildcat Reference service is also compatible with AOL, Google, and Yahoo IM clients.

Answers Online is intended for use by current students, faculty and staff of Northwestern University. We will also attempt to answer questions from the general public when they pertain to specific items in our libraries' collections, library services or to the university itself.
