The Boas Mathematics Library is named in honor of the late professor Ralph P. Boas (1912-1992), distinguished mathematician and former executive editor of the Mathematical Reviews, the world's leading index to mathematical publications. The library serves primarily Northwestern's Mathematics Department and Statistics Department as well as the NU community.

The Mathematics Library has a research collection in pure mathematics and statistics of approximately 34,000 volumes. Much of Northwestern's collection in applied mathematics is located in the Seeley G. Mudd Library .
