The video production studio and the vocal booth offer recording options for Northwestern faculty and students to record lectures, interviews, podcasts and more.

Video Production Studio

The Video Production Studio is a no-cost self-service video production studio in Mudd Library for current Northwestern faculty and students to easily produce professional-looking videos.

The Video Production Studio is available by appointment in Mudd Library.

A consultation or workshop can be arranged for an individual or group. Contact the Instructional Technologies Librarian, Ted Quiballo at tquiballo@northwestern.edu for instruction on use of the Video Production Studio.

Equipment

Lightboard

Ideal for presentations and lectures, Lightboard is a glass chalkboard that uses light to allow users to face viewers while writing and recording a lecture. The board is videotaped in mirror reflection, giving users a quick and easy way to communicate technical subjects, equations and sketches, all while engaging with the camera and the viewers.

 

Vocal Booth

The vocal booth is fully equipped with professional recording technology, including a mixing board and a selection of recording software.

Using the Vocal Booth

Ideal for recording podcasts, voiceovers and doing interviews, the Vocal Booth contains a Mac with recording software, a mixing board and pop covers. The booth is self-service and can be reserved with the library calendar.

The booth is not equipped with microphones. Bring a mic or check out a condenser mic from the Circulation Desk.

Media Editing Stations

The Media Editing Stations are 5 iMacs with 27’’ screens equipped with software for media production.

Using the Media Editing Stations

All computers in the Information Commons are first come, first serve during hours that the building is open. Log in with your NetID to use the computer.

Headphones are available to check out from the Circulation Desk if needed.
