Rare Materials Guidelines and Policies

Rare, unique or delicate collection items are non-circulating but available for in-library use.

To use rare materials, request an appointment by emailing transportationlibrary@northwestern.edu.

Policies

• Researchers are expected to be careful to avoid loss or damage to any materials
• Avoid using ink pens; please use pencils only for note-taking
• Do not eat or drink while using rare collections
• No scanning without receiving permission
• Unless prohibited by donor-imposed restrictions, patrons may photograph materials in our collections with personal cameras
