Getting Available Items

The Libraries will pull available materials for pickup or delivery.

Request materials for pickup

Any library user may request that available, circulating items be picked up from the Main Circulation Desk in University (Main) Library. Note: For Fall 2020, the stacks are closed.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to Your Account with your NetID or username and password.
  2. Click on the "Get It" tab in the search results, and then select "Request" from the request options.
  3. Requests are processed instantly by the system. If you are blocked from submitting a request, please contact the Main Circulation desk at 847-491-7633 or by email.

You can also use our Interlibrary Loan to request scans of most articles or book chapters held in print at Evanston campus libraries. Learn about this service.

Request material for delivery

Anyone who cannot safely travel to the library may request delivery of items.

Items are checked out immediately before they are shipped via UPS. Items will be shipped once a week to patrons. Take this timing into account when borrowing time sensitive items.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to Your Account with your NetID or username and password.
  2. Click on the "Get It" tab in the search results, and then select "Request" from the request options.
  3. Select "Home Address" from the "Pickup Location" drop-down menu. Supply your address in the "Notes" field.

You may return items via mail. See instructions for returning materials.

Request uncatalogued materials

Some items are available for check-out, but are not yet listed in NUsearch, or are listed as "In-Process." Complete the Uncatalogued Materials request form to request the item for pick-up at one of our service desks.
