Getting Available Items

The Libraries will pull available materials for pickup or delivery.

Request materials for pickup

Any library user may request that available, circulating items be picked up from the Main Circulation Desk in University (Main) Library.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to Your Account with your NetID or username and password.
  2. Click on the "Get It" tab in the search results, and then select "Request" from the request options.
  3. Requests are processed instantly by the system. If you are blocked from submitting a request, please contact the Main Circulation desk by email at circulation@northwestern.edu.

You can also use our Interlibrary Loan to request scans of most articles or book chapters held in print at Evanston campus libraries. Learn about this service.

Request material for delivery

Northwestern Libraries provides faculty, graduate, and distance education students off-campus delivery of Northwestern-owned materials and Interlibrary Loan books. The libraries will ship items out weekly via UPS. Multiple item requests may be packed and shipped separately based on when they are processed.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to Your Account with your NetID or username and password.
  2. Click on the "Get It" tab in the search results, and then select "Request" from the request options.
  3. Select "Home Address" from the "Pickup Location" drop-down menu. Supply your address in the "Notes" field.

You may return items via mail. See instructions for returning materials.

Request uncatalogued materials

Some items are available for check-out, but are not yet listed in NUsearch, or are listed as "In-Process." Complete the Uncatalogued Materials request form to request the item for pick-up at one of our service desks.
